The 365 Days Project
The 365 Days Project was produced in 2003 [update: and in 2007], by Otis Fodder. The concept behind it is quite simple: release one sound file per day for the year 2003, starting on January first. The challenge resulted not only in maintaining the daily posting, but also offering obscure (and for the most part out-of-print) recordings.
Here is a sample list of some of the most intriguing sound files. The whole project can be found on UbuWeb.
- Picking Up Girls Made Easy - The Women's Clothing Store Pick-Up
- Pure cheese and amazing that these pick-ups could actually work (well maybe on girls who are not playing with a full deck of cards). What's even more amazing is that this is still in print (no longer on LP, but on cassette!). - Otis Fodder
- Brute Force - King of Fuh
- King of Fuh takes the word that sounds like "Fuh King", and is said many millions of times everyday, worldwide, and raises it into a context expressing the Beauty of the world and the power of Individuality. - Brute Force
- Louis Farrakhan - Is She Is, Or Is She Ain't?
- It's hard to picture the leader of the Nation of Islam singing a calypso song about a sex change operation but the cheery singer is none other than Louis Farrakhan. - Zeb Navarro
- The DeZurik (Cackle) Sisters - Old Dan Tucker
- Popular in the '30s-40s-50s, working as a duet comprising of Carolyn and sister Mary Jane DeZurik. Noted for sky-high yodels, they could also make their yodels sound like chickens and were later known also as the Cackle Sisters. - Musicweb Encyclopedia of Popular Music
- Ralph Carmichael and Kurt Kaiser - Natural High
- Kids' music changes almost weekly. We have the responsibility to change, too. Truth doesn't change - but vernacular, musical idiom, and styles definitely do change. Problems that concern kids also concern parents, and NATURAL HIGH provides us with the opportunity to express ourselves in the "straight ahead - gang sound" of today. It's honest, true, unrefined and, we feel, "where it's at." - Kurt Kaiser, on the back cover notes.
- Michael Mills - Hidden & Satanic Messages In Rock Music
- This 1981 Christian radio show (with host Michael Mills) exposes the threat of secret messages in your Rock and Roll! During the 45 minute radio show he covers a ton of artists... - Otis Fodder
- John Rydgren - A Beautiful Girl/Music To Watch Girls By
- A natural phenomenon... watching girls. A special attraction... girls... designed for man by God. The beautiful girls today, the colorful music along with the fact that God did design a most special creature to keep man company... provided the inspiration for the Silhouette production, Music to Watch Girls By. - John Rydgren
- Van Morrison - Ring Worm
- Recorded by Van Morrision in 1968 to get out of his recording contract with Bang Records. 31 tracks in total were given to Bang to fufill the contact obligation. Here is one. - Otis Fodder
- Ashfordaisyak - Leper In A Tumbledryer
- As for the song, it's... odd. And well, if you know me, well, me saying it's odd is something. It's a song about a leper in a tumbledryer, if the title didn't give it away. Moreover, someone has poured porridge in the dryer as well. Along with the clothing and the leper. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
